Sacred Heart

Tucked away in a peaceful and pastoral compound in the middle of a working class neighborhood is a gem of the Catholic Church. The Sacred Heart Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Detroit has trained generations of priests, & now houses an undergraduate and graduate school in addition to the seminary (information about their pastoral ministry and other programs can be found at their website . The school was founded in 1919 as a minor seminary, and the Detroit Archbishops have taken care to carefully preserve the school and grounds. They're in the middle of a restoration project, and the building is starting to gleam again.

While on a trip with my sons to see my late husband's cousins, a friend kindly took time out from her schedule to share the beauties of their school with me. Scenes in this video are from their rare books library and exquisite church building, which has been recently restored. I wish that the photographs showing the altars that lined the sanctuary weren't too dim to see, but we didn't turn on the interior lights as we had just popped in for Eucharistic Adoration after our lunch together.

ENJOY!
